Crocodile Research

Inwater Research Group biologists were invited down to FPL’s Turkey Point power plant to assist with their American Crocodile monitoring and research program.  We saw over 40 sub-adult and adult crocodiles during the day and then went out in the evening and captured two juvenile crocodiles!  Needless to say, it was an amazing experience, and hopefully we can work with them again.

Shark Attack Victim

On January 20th, a juvenile green turtle stranded on Walton Rocks on Hutchinson Island. Upon inspection of the turtle,  it had severe wounds most likely resulting from a shark attack. Inwater Research Group biologists retrieved the injured turtle and took it to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno for rehabilitation.  Rehabilitation staff were able to stabilize the animal and it is currently undergoing treatment.
